I didn’t know anything about personal development before I started my network marketing business in 2006.
At that time, the company I chose to work with had a training contract with Bob Proctor, and his wife was a distributor. Then about 2 months later, the movie, The Secret, was released. Naturally, since Bob Proctor played such a big part in the movie, everyone had to see it.
That’s how my personal development journey started, and it hasn’t stopped since.
Law of Attraction and Positive Thinking
The law of attraction is interesting. Since The Secret, it seems like everyone wants to be a law of attraction coach. Then, on the other side, you have the people who say the law of attraction is a bunch of hooey.
My understanding of the law of attraction, both from studying and experience, is that the law of attraction is always working. What you expect, whether consciously or not, is what you get.
It’s kind of like gravity. It’s always on. The only decision you need to make is whether you want to use it to your benefit or not. Other than someone to let you know there is a law of gravity and point you in the right direct, you really don’t need to hire a law of gravity coach.
Likewise, once you know that the law of attraction exists and how it works, you really don’t need a coach.
Don’t Believe?
If you don’t believe in the law of attraction and positive thinking, then consider this. How do you feel when you think positively? And how do you feel when you think negatively?
You usually feel better when you think positive thoughts. When you think positive and feel good, it affects how you carry yourself and how you interact with others.
Your positive interactions tend to have more positive results, and that positive cascade continues on.
Start there and see how things work out for you.
Personal Development Feeds my Other Activities
As I said, my introduction to network marketing was also my introduction to personal development. If you want to grow a business you have to grow yourself first. That’s my personal development is so important.
It’s hard to grow a successful business when you don’t think you can or you expect bad things to happen.
Likewise, it is difficult to improve your health when your mind is sick.
The bottom line is, you have to believe that you can, and will, succeed in whatever you set out to do.
My Personal Development Website
I have a separate website where I focus on personal development so that I can keep it mostly separate from my other activities, even though they do feed each other.
On www.yw-personal-development.com I blog out personal development topics. I also started a quote-of-the-day post that I write (almost) every day Monday through Friday.
Check them out and let me know what you think.
